Dinosaurs are an extinct group of diverse reptiles that dominated Earth for about 165 million years. It’s estimated that they went extinct about 65 million years ago. There are many theories on what caused the extinction of dinosaurs. Two of the most common hypotheses are either an impact event from an asteroid or a massive volcanic event. Either of these events would be enough to wipe out the dinosaurs. Some scientists even think these two events might of happened at or near the same time. Whatever ultimately ended the dinosaurs reign on our planet paved the way for mammals and ultimately humanity.
